The serious business begins this weekend. We will be competing in the Bulldog International Rally, which is the first round the British Rally Championship, and everything we have been doing so far this year has been in preparation for this Championship. We will be running number 2 on the road behind Mark Higgins. It is going to be a very tough rally because as well as Mark, who is a triple British Champion, there are a lot of other very quick drivers behind us.

The West Cork Rally 2009 PDF Print E-mail

What a brilliant rally. We finished 1st in Group N and 4th Overall after 2 brilliant days of rallying on very fast and enjoyable stages and after some very hair-raising moments. We scored maximum Evo Challenge points on both days, so we couldn’t have asked for a better start to the Championship.

We will be heading to Clonakilty this week-end to do the West Cork Rally. This is very much a local event for me as it is less than an hour over the road, and I am looking forward to it as I didn’t get a chance to compete in any events this close to home last year.  We are doing the event as a shake-down for the first round of the BRC which will be taking place on the 28th of March.

Well, I couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2009 with a win on the Sean Conlon Memorial rally. It was my first outright win on a round of the National Forestry Championship, and I was absolutely delighted to come off that final stage to find out that I had got the win.  I had come close on a number of occasions in 2007 when I competed in the full Championship so to finally get a win in an Irish Forestry Rally was brilliant.

From Sligo to Mitchelstown PDF Print E-mail

This past weekend saw the World Rally Championship coming to Ireland for the second time. Although I would have loved to compete on Irelands round of the WRC, the cost of doing so was prohibitive, given that I have committed myself to the BRC this year.
