We will be heading to Clonakilty this week-end to do the West Cork Rally. This is very much a local event for me as it is less than an hour over the road, and I am looking forward to it as I didn’t get a chance to compete in any events this close to home last year.  We are doing the event as a shake-down for the first round of the BRC which will be taking place on the 28th of March.

We will be registering for the Irish Evolution Challenge, as this is the first round of this championship. We only made the decision to do this championship early this week as the Ulster Rally is also a round of it, which we will be doing as part of the BRC. So with 6 counting rounds in the Irish Evolution Challenge and the West Cork and the Ulster counting for 2 rounds each, it means we will only have to do another 2 rounds to make up the full 6. It was never our intention to do this championship, however, there is a very good prize and it would be foolish not to register when we will be doing 4 rounds anyway.

The competition this week-end will be very tough, with drivers like Denis(Cronin), Liam McCarthy, Donie O’Sullivan, John Dalton and Phil Collins all capable of winning the event. Nevertheless, I will still be trying hard for a good result but I will have to try and keep the BRC in the back of my mind as I will be doing the Bulldog Rally 2 weeks later.
